An effective 3 step process to a successful EPK (electronic press kit)...

I believe that a very important item on a press kit for a band wanting to publish and distribute their music and compositions is their presentation.  Many times over, I have seen how an artistic approach is not understood from the outside, and the only people that get it are those memebers of the band itself.  For example, a messy look and demeanor might be a gret marketing tool maybe on stage.  However, that same look may not fly by a potential investor (a venture capitalist).

Another important item on the agenda in order to ensure a good press kit besides the presentation is to outsource the job itself of composing the kit.  Maybe the bandmembers are not necessarily unfamiliar with this field.  However, having an understanding of how to compose a kit, does not mean that the press kit will maximize its return.  At the end of the day, the artistic venture is a business.  The sooner the band gets that aspect, the better the return may be.  Outsourcing the job and investing a bit of money on a company that could actually deliver a professional product (the press kit, bio, website, etc), may also mean that you could hold that company accountable to the delivery of it.  A great resource in order to find quotes from an outside company could be found at http://www.powerpresskits.com/.  This company offers free quotes and a great newsletter that can acutally guide you in the right direction.

Another component has to do directly with money.  Taking advantage of a crowdfunding-firendly image and press kit may return a great financial result.  Researching the best and most effcient way to crowdfund the project may also give the band a clear idea on how to handle their EPK (electronic press kit).  Therefore in this case, as in the other 2 talked about above, beginning with the end in mind could mean a higher capital return.  Why does the band need an increased capital return?  Well, the higher the return, the more time they can spend making music!
