Major scale

Here is a simple way of recalling the major scale on the guitar.

Play an open string continually and while playing figure out a pattern to incorporate the steps in the major scale.

Example: play an open high E string 3 times and on the 4 time play the 2nd fret. So if played in eighth notes, you would have played "1and 2 and" with the last "and" being a whole step away on the 2nd fret. Do not stop there and keep playing in time, again, the open high E string. Then on the last "and" play a whole step away from the prior whole step. So you just played "whole, whole" steps from the open E.

Repeat until you finish the scale on the 12th fret and do the same with every string.
