After reading about my chord post, please comment with questions. I will be happy to answer them on my blog or via email at jonperez360@gmail.com.
But, before we can rush into that world, we need to understand a bit of chord theory. Chord theory is really a language that has developed in order to translate the musical notes into speaking language bypassing musical notation.
So to get started, getting to know how numbers work in chords is a great start. We will discuss the main ones below.
Root of chord = the first note of the chord formula.
3rd = the second note of the chord. They call it third because is the third in relationship to the scale, but just know is the second in harmonic order from the root.
5th = the third note of the chord. They call it fifth because is the fifth in relationship to the scale, but just know is the third in harmonic order from the root.
7th = the fourth note of the chord. They call it seventh because is the seventh in relationship to the scale, but just know is the fourth in harmonic order from the root.
Keep playing! And please comment with questions. I will be happy to answer them on my blog or via email.
