How to copyright your songs? A comprehensive FAQ list!!!

A simple but very useful tool in the world of songwriting has to do with protecting your property as a songwriter.  By law, once you create an original song or instrumental piece of music, and you put it in "tangible" form, your work is copyright protected.

However, there is one extra step that you may want to take.  That is to REGISTER your copyright!

Some songwriters and authors think that what protects their work is the REGISTRATION, but they are dead wrong!  Copyright law protects the work once is created and exists in tangible form.  In other words, it cannot stay in your mind.

REGISTERING the work with the US Copyright Office gives you an easier way of proving any kind of infringement.  Their website could be found here: http://www.copyright.gov/help/faq/

The link above offers a great set of FAQ!
